Wow, Have I been absent a long time.
Well, it has been months since I have last sent an update.
Not even sure what all has happened since the last blog.
I have been focusing on work. That is what pays the bills. This coding journey is an extracurricular activity that I would like to see blossom into a career, but until that happens I have to focus on my current work.
I finally built my Dactyl Manuform. I had some issues, it had been about 17 years since I had done any soldering or electronics building. I started with individual boards for the keys so that I could do per key LED, but it just wasn't working correctly, and it was easier to tear them out than it was to go through and try to troubleshoot every board. I only wanted the rgb leds for if I hated the keyboard, I could use that as a selling point to maybe make back the money I had put into it. I added a led strip underneath for some glow, but nothing special. I do really like the keyboard. The split design takes some stress out of my wrists and my shoulders. I'm still getting used to it, and sometimes the thumb clusters can make my brain freeze up for a second. My biggest battle is that now C resides under my middle finger (qwerty), and I'm used to using my index to hit it.
As far as coding goes, I am still using Go, dabbling back to Python, and I have been mixing in some HTMX. The hard part is finding nice projects to work on. Recently we built a quick an small text based RPG game, and everything I implemented worked fine. That was a nice little win. Currently working on a URL shortener. I'm in the process of rebuilding the API, to try and make it a little nicer looking.
I am going to try to keep up to date on this, but it seems difficult with the way work keeps ramping up the way it is, and then home life gets kinda busy, and any downtime I have, I just want to try to get in here and write code.
